Burn Day

Yesterday at our house it was “Burn Day”.  I know to you city-folks this sounds weird, but out in the country sometime you have to burn things.
A couple of weekends ago, we had a bad storm that broke one of our very big trees, so yesterday some of our neighbors and friends came over to help us cut up the tree and burn the small branches that could not be used for firewood.  Burn days can be a big event out in our neck of the woods.  There are usually friends and neighbors involved, along with good food and drinks.  Nothing is better than sitting in front of a big fire enjoying the warmth and company.
I gotta say that this city girl just loves the country.

Sport, Team, and School Shirts

I have been working on some Teams shirts for a friend of mine. She wanted one for her daughter and one for herself.  I am really digging the mom shirts.  I am one of those CRAZY people that thinks that they need a shirt for every event.  For example, my husband bought season tickets to his University football games and I needed a shirt so that I could go with him.  Well, actually I needed one and my daughter needed one, and we wore them for every game.  I know that it is nuts, but hey, that is just how I am.  Here are the mother daughter shirts that I made.  I just love the colors, and yes, I did make the bow.  Doesn’t every shirt or outfit need a bow?  I also made and aunt and grandmother shirt.

Tea and Crumpets Apron

Tea and Crumpets Apron

Clean and Crisp
This apron is for another friend.  She is very fun, but also tailored and neat.  I thought that this apron would not only fit her style, but it would match her house.  I just love the clean lines and the way that the white crisp bib looks with the little ruffling.

Antropology Apron (Inspiration)
This inspiration for this one came from an Anthropology apron.  Don’t you just love Anthropology?  Well, I do and really can’t get enough of it.  I found a tutorial for this apron on the “Sewing In No Mans Land” web site.  She has many great tutorials! The tutorial was pretty easy for me to follow, and I think that the apron turned out great.
I chose a fabric with a little more color than the inspiration and also chose not to include the flower and pocket.  I really wanted to keep it a clean look.

The Hostess Apron

Hostess Apron
This is one of my favorite aprons yet.  I found the tutorial on Pinterest at “Sew 4 Home” and knew that I wanted to make it.  I also just love the fabrics and how they go together, and I am sure that you have already noticed the rick-rack.  I just love rick-rack!
Rick-Rack

This one is for a neighbor of mine that likes to sew also.  The sad thing is, when you sew, nobody makes things for you.  Now she can not use that excuse.

The tutorial was easy to follow and I will be making this one again!
